Spring Cleaning Gives Back to the DAV and City Union Mission
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (PRWEB) April 15, 2018
Red Racks Thrift Stores, owned and operated by the Disabled American Veterans, and City Thrift owned by City Union Mission NEED donated items to stock their shelves and support local Veterans and community members in need! Your Spring Cleaning can directly help those in need when you donate your items as opposed to throwing them away. The items sold at the Red Racks Stores directly help the Disabled American Veterans and the items sold at City Thrift directly help the City Union Mission. “It’s not every day when cleaning your home can provide so much help to the local community,” said CEO Doug DePew.
“Red Racks helps the Disabled American Veterans with transportation needs to and from medical appointments and help with claims and benefits,” DePew said. “The City Union Mission offers shelter, food and programs to those that are homeless and underprivileged in Kansas City! Something as simple as cleaning out your garage or your attic can make OUR city a better place!”
DePew added, “Thanks to our donors and shoppers the DAV was able to provide nearly 615,000 rides for veterans and helped to attain more than $4 billion in new and retroactive benefits to care for veterans, their families and survivors! The City Union Mission was able to help provide shelter to over 134,000 people and provided over 256,000 meals, all to those in need in Kansas City!”
Red Racks Thrift Stores and City Thrift Stores are open 9am to 9pm, Monday-Saturday and 10am to 8pm Sundays. Donations can be delivered during these hours inside the store or at convenient drive-up locations. For larger items donors may schedule a residential or commercial pickup by calling 816-960-4621. For a list of items that are accepted and more donation information, please visit http://www.redracksthriftstores.com/donate or http://www.citythrift.org/donate.
DePew reflected, “It’s it great to know that something you were going to do anyway, like declutter a room in your home, can make such an impact to our local community!”
