The Dept Of Health amends Rules On Sight Testing

The Department of Health has issued new Guidlines for frequency of Sight Testing for People who Qualify for Free National Health Sight Tests.

The department says that these are Guidlines and if a person suspects they are having problems then they should still consult an Optician.

The recomened periods are as follows:-

Under 16 with no refractive error history...1 year

Under 7 with binocular or refractive error.6 Month

over 7 under 16 with binocular or rapidly progressing myopia ....6 Months

16 an over.... every 2 years

70 and over....every 1 year

40 and over with family history of glaucoma.1 year

Diabetic not part of a diabetic programme...1 year
