According to a report in the British Medical Journal of the 10 March 2001, Scientist Dr.Joel Schuman and his colleagues at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston USA believes they have found the that the endothelial leucocytes cell adhesion molecule 1 (ELAM 1) is present in the eyes of Patients with Glaucoma and not present in healthy eyes. This finding may eventually lead to early genetic screening tests being devised to detect and treat patients much sooner than as at present.
